Join us at The Rake at Admiral Maltings on Wednesday, September 17th, from 4–8 PM for a Meet the Brewer event with Mark Francis of English Ales Brewery—a Monterey Peninsula staple carrying on 25 years of brewing tradition in Marina, CA.
English Ales was founded in 2000 by the Blackwell family, who brought authentic pub culture and classic English brewing to the California coast. Today, Mark and his wife Jocelyn continue that legacy, crafting traditional English-style ales while adding fresh creativity inspired by their community. Mark’s brewing journey began as a homebrewer pouring pints for friends, later honing his skills on Catalina Island before returning home to lead English Ales into its next chapter.
For this event, we’ll be pouring a lineup that showcases English Ales’ balance of tradition and innovation:
🍺 Joy Juice Red Ale – a house favorite currently on tap at The Rake.
🍺 Michael’s Toasted Tiki Ale – brewed with coconut for a smooth, tropical touch.
🍺 Dragon Slayer IPA – a traditional English-style IPA, recently refined with Admiral’s Kilnsmith malt.
