Join us Saturday, September 19th at Admiral Maltings in Alameda for the third IT’S THE MALT Festival, our annual celebration of malt’s central role in beer and whiskey and everything it takes to get it from grain to glass.

This year’s focus celebrates Oktoberfest with the freshest, tastiest Festbiers. Perhaps no other beer style showcases the range of malt character from the subtlest to the most profound. In addition to the Best of Fest available in California, taste a wide range of other lager and ale styles to learn how Admiral malt shapes malt flavors and aromas in beer.

  • Making Festbiers with Admiral Malts. A guided sensory panel and discussion with Kim Sturdavant. 2:00pm
  • Single Malt Whiskey Collaborations and Special Malts: a discussion with our neighbors, St. George Spirits distillers Lance Winters and Dave Smith. 2:45 pm.
• 35 beers Carefully curated to showcase the wide world of malt and its many contributions to various beer styles, including a new Festbier Land area.
• 🥃 Whiskey flights + tastings celebrating California Single Malt Whiskey
• Dahoam1516 – homebrew demo featuring Admiral Malt – info that will get you started and take the fear out of homebrewing
• Two cask conditioned ales served from traditional beer engines
• Farmers, maltsters, brewers, and distillers on hand to talk all things malt
• Access to the malthouse to see where the floor malting magic happens
• 🍽️ Delicious food available: Smash Burgers, Pulled Pork Sandos, Hot Links, Beyond Brats, Vegan Burgers, plus sides
