Grain to Glass: A Farmer, Maltster and Brewer(s) Walk into a Bar

Description

The path to get that delicious beer into your glass begins far upstream from the brewery and is a true collaboration between farmer, maltster, and brewer. The beer community is larger than it seems at first glance.

Malt is the soul of beer—its primary ingredient after water and the source of so many of beer’s flavors that hops and yeast harmonize with and complement or contrast. What is it? Where does it come from? How is it made? And how do decisions at each step along the way shape the liquid in your glass?

Join us at Admiral Maltings, California’s first barley malting facility and only floor maltings of the modern era, for a day when farmer, maltster, and brewer come together in one place to share their perspectives (and enjoy the fruits of their respective labors). Take a special tour of the malthouse led by one of the Admiral’s founders and meet some of the farmers who grow our grain along the way. After the tour, head back to our adjacent pub, The Rake, to meet some of the brewers who turn our malt into delicious beer.

The ticket includes the tour and half-pours from our participating brewers.

To keep things intimate, we’ll be conducting three different tours throughout the afternoon. Select your tour time when you buy your ticket.
