Ah! The enigma of cask-conditioned beer! Once a standard, more than once in danger of extinction, it has captured the hearts of many over the years and even inspired one of the world’s first consumer movements to keep it alive.
And alive it is! Cask ale is a beer that undergoes a secondary fermentation in the cask or barrel from which it is served, producing natural carbonation and dynamic flavors that continue to evolve right up until the beer hits your glass. For some beer styles, at least, there is arguably no better way to discover the subtle and nuanced flavors the brewer intended.
There’s a ton of love for cask-conditioned beer among the Admiral team as well as the extended Admiral family. Ron and Dave have been brewing and serving it for as long as they’ve been in the beer world and championing its virtues to anyone who will listen. Fortunately, many of our brewery customers share our love for cask beer and on Friday, 2/16, you can taste the fruits of their labor at The Rake.
Treat yourself to unlimited tastings from twelve locally made casks, all brewed with Admiral malt (of course) from 6-9 pm. Your ticket includes a BBQ sampler plate including applewood smoked pork belly, hot link, malt-brined chicken, pulled pork, pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw and BBQ sauce.
Don’t miss this special event, whether you are a diehard fan or new to cask beer!
